December 2005 -
I have always loved entertaining. I have taken piano and performed in concerts and recitals. I played in band for years but lost interest in high school, not in music really, just the type of music we played.
Getting Into The Business!
I started a company called Audio Delivery in 1980 in Vandalia Ohio. I wanted to play music for people in any way I could. We were only DJs but it was fun bringing music to peoples events and parties and keeping up with all the new artists coming out! I came to DC and DJed in clubs and enjoyed the music scene downtown for 4 years.
Blues Changed My Life!
Then a lot of great stuff happened in 1991. I got stationed in Memphis Tennessee for a while. WOW! What a place to listen to music. I was a regular at the Rum Boogie Cafe. I got interested in blues more than ever and I bought my first guitar, an acoustic Fender!
First Trip to the Beach!
I then moved to Virginia Beach with guitar in tow. I took lessons but didn't stick with it. I listened to great music down there though. Places like Jewish Mother had great blues and jazz. Finally after moving to Northern Virginia in 1997, I expanded my business to manage bands as well as DJs. I hooked up with some great people. I had four bands at one point playing places in Northern VA and even the White House Christmas Party one year. I was still behind the scenes though.
Second Trip to the Beach!
When 9/11 happened I took a break from the business and moved back to the beach for military duty. While down there I took lessons from two different teachers. One taught me songs and the other some theory. I played along with someone at a gig down there for two songs and I was hooked. When I got back to Northern VA, I worked to be able to play and sing at the same time.
Death Of The DJ!
I sold all my DJ gear, bought a PA and last year played my first time in front of people at Fred Karam's show at the Barefoot Pelican! I owe Fred a lot, I rode his coat tails for a year and played some cool spots. I am getting better I think and I have found some cool people to play with! Together we pick out tons of music, Blues, folk, country, rock and recently jazz.
So this website is for my music but also the music I love! Check out all the links and check the news. I will post some of my friends performances on here as well. I am always wondering where people are playing and I figure I could give you one place to check!
I hope you like it!
